5 Places to Visit in Ibadan for a Romantic Date on Valentine’s Day

Ibadan, also known as the city of brown roofs, is often perceived to be an ancient city and truly it is! But not in the way people think it is. It is a beautiful city with a thriving economy and is home to many sites of attractions owned by the government as well as private business owners.

As couples seeking to have a good time with each other in this season of love, you need not worry about where to go or if you would get the best service in a city like Ibadan. I have put together 5 spots in Ibadan where you and your partner can go for a romantic date on Valentine’s day.

1. KOKO DOME RESTAURANT

Koko Dome is a household name that has retained its unique spot as a premier entertainment centre over the decades. It was established in 1989 and is the oldest nightclub in the city of Ibadan. It has a restaurant, swimming pool and nightclub. It has a variety of local meals served within a modern ambience.

They serve Lebanese, African, Bar, Mediterranean and Pub-styled meals. Although the exterior might look average, the interior décor and poolside make dining at Koko Dome feel grand, hence a suitable option for a romantic date for two. It is located at Liebu Bypass, Cocoa House, Ibadan.

2. Latitude Café and Lounge

Though this space caters to the elite, there is something for everyone here. The food is tasty and they also have ice cream if you’d be going for dessert. It has the ambience for any occasion. There is a fountain outside the restaurant but still within Ventura mall that makes outdoor dining nice. For a romantic date, it is an option to try out.
It is located at plot 5 and 6, Old Aerodrome Road Along Sango-UI Road, Samonda, GRA, Ibadan (inside the Ventura Mall).

3. Café Chrysalis

This spot has a warm and intimate feel. The offering here is African, International, Fusion and vegetarian friendly. The food is great; fresh with consistent quality and taste. You can decide to eat on the terrace outside or indoors. It has a serene atmosphere and environment. There is a corner for couples to use for a private date as well as a segment with longer tables for groups.

They have about 4 branches in Ibadan (Old Bodija, Ventura, Ring-road, and Jericho) depending on the closest one to you. Their food is quite tasty and the prices range between #1,500 and #4,000 depending on what you’re ordering. The cost of eating here for two persons is approximately #7,000 depending on what you order.
They also sell nice smoothies which range from #1500 to 1800. Chrysalis is pristine and they have a welcoming and homely customer service.

4. Ibachi

If you want an Oriental experience Ibachi is the place for you. This Ibadan-Chinese Restaurant serves authentic Chinese and oriental meals in an exquisite dining area. The set buffet menu is on the high side and dining here comes with certain restrictions like no professional photos and take-aways from the buffet. You can, however, book a place for a private event. It is also a cool spot for corporate or family dinners, but don’t let the fear of crowds spoil your romantic mood. It is ideal for a private lunch or dinner date.

It’s a fantastic place for a date of two or four. Their service is extremely fast and their portion is quite large. It’s also affordable depending on your budget. For a filling serving of one, it varies from #4500 – #6,000.
It is located at Theophilus Akinyele way, New Bodija Ibadan.

5. Agodi gardens

Agodi Gardens is a major tourist attraction in Ibadan, Oyo state and is visited by many for a good time with their loved ones. Formerly called Agodi Zoological and Botanical Gardens, it was originally created in 1967 and was managed by the Western region. Following the destruction caused by the Ogunpa flood in 2012, the Oyo State government started renovations and in 2014, the new Agodi Gardens was launched.

Agodi Gardens is located in Agodi on Secretariat Road, Ibadan, Oyo state. It is directly beside the secretariat. Easily accessible from the popular Mokola roundabout, it is only about ten minutes from the roundabout and about 5 minutes from University College Hospital Ibadan (UCH).

At Agodi gardens, they have restaurants and so external drinks are not allowed into the park, but external food is allowed. The entrance fee into Agodi Gardens is 500 naira per person. An extra 500 naira is required to gain access to the swimming pool area. In fact, for every activity, a minimum of 500 is required: horse riding is 500, the hoverboard is 500, etc.
