UI ASUU SET FOR AN INDEFINITE STRIKE

Following the report that came in on Monday, 7th of February, 2022, which made some federal universities embark on a lecture-free day


The Academy Staff Union, University of Ibadan chapter has declared today, Wednesday, February 9, 2022, as a lecture-free day.

This is happening over the mistreatment of lecturers by the federal government.


According to the Union of Campus Journalists (UI chapter) publication, that came in yesterday, it was reported that:


The Pressmen were addressed by the Chairman of ASUU UI, in the person of Professor Ayo Akinwole. He briefed them on the outcome of yesterday’s meeting.
Professor Akinwole also added, he said,

“University of Ibadan chapter of ASUU was in support of the decision of the leadership of the Union to fight for her members whose welfare has been neglected for over 13 years.”



According to the Punch Newspaper article that was released yesterday, ASUU is set to have its National Executive Council Meeting on the 12th of February, 2022.

The possibility of an indefinite strike will be decided on this day. The meeting will be happening at University of Lagos, Akoka.
