DRUG CASE: Court Rejects Abba Kyari’s Bail Application

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, 28th March 2022 has refused to grant the bail request presented by Abba Kyari, the former head of the IGP Intelligence Response Team (IRT) and suspended deputy commissioner of police. The Federal High Court also declined the bail applications by his co-defendants.

In a ruling, Justice Emeka Nwite, stated that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) had placed sufficient evidence before the court to reject Abba Kyari and his accomplices, with whom he faces charges of illegal dealing in cocaine, bail plea.

Justice Nwite however, granted an accelerated hearing of the case.

Recall that Abba Kyari and his codefendants were charged in relation to offences of illegal dealings in illicit drugs.
