2Baba is his official stage nameHis real name is Innocent Ujah Idibia. He is widely known by the name Tuface Idibia both nationally and internationally. He is a Nigerian born in Jos from the Idoma ethnic group in the southern part of Benue State in Central Nigeria. The Afro legend bagged his preliminary National Diploma course in Business Administration and Management at the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu where he performed at school-organized shows and parties with the name, Lord Elly But he eventually dropped out of school to pursue his music career.

The Afro-music star is multi-versatile. He is a songwritera record producer, an entrepreneur, and a philanthropist who started his music career in the early 1990s with the stage name “Lord Elly”. With the music passion in him, he moved to Lagos where he met his fellow Benue singer Blackface Naija (Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo) who was his secondary school colleague, and Faze (Chibuzor Orji) where he went on to form the trio band called Plantashun Boiz

The Plantashun Boiz were able to build a name for themselves. It released two successful studio albums; “Body and Soul” in 2000 and “Sold Out” in 2003 under Dove Records before disbanding in 2004 as a result of a misunderstanding between Faze and Tuface and its members started their solo careers. Long after the beef, the band came back together in 2007 to record a third and final album titled “Plan B” in 2007, which is used to settle the scores between themselves.

Before the reconciliation of the band, BlackFace on numerous occasions claimed that 2Baba solely performed songs co-written by both of them without remitting revenues to him. After a long legal and media battle, the matter was finally laid to rest amicably.

2Baba released his debut solo album Face 2 Face in 2004 which was touted as one of the biggest hits to come out of Africa and serve as the soundtrack to the 2006 Hollywood movie Phat Girlz. Following the release of his debut album, he released his second album Grass 2 Grace in 2006, which contained hit tracks like “One Love”, “True Love, “4 Instance”.
