The NASU and SAANU strike that was extended on the 23rd of May, 2022 has just been extended by 8 weeks again.
This was indicated in a circular released earlier today to the public. The circular was signed by the General Secretary and President of SSANU.

The demands of SSANU include the inconsistent issue of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel information system, unpaid earned allowances, delay in the renegotiation of the FGN, NASU, SSANU agreements, non-payment of minimum wage arrears, neglect and poor funding of state universities, non-payment of retirement benefits to outgoing members of the unions, and usurpation of the headship of non-teaching units in clear violation of conditions of service and establishment procedures, among others.

Though, the federal government has earlier said plans are in place for students to get back to class as soon as possible. The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige while responding to the State House Correspondents at the Federal Government council meeting said “plans are on to bring the strike to an end”.
He also said that negotiations are going on and all affected bodies will be attended to.
